Alyssa & Dan tied the knot on August 24, 2019 at the stunning Chateau Dumont in Banner Elk, NC. The day had an iconic High Country vibe with fog and mist that provided a mystical and romantic ambiance. With carefully selected florals by Golden Thistle Design, a soft color palette, funk & soul music and stunning wedding attire, everything about Alyssa & Dan’s big day was a dream come true.

The day began with the ladies getting ready in one of Chateau Dumont’s many spaces. The private residence now hosts smaller weddings and elopements and is located in Banner Elk, NC. A true gem of a venue for the High Country! Alyssa is one of the sweetest ladies I’ve ever had the chance to work with, and I could just feel her joy and emotion the entire day. I had the pleasure of photographing Alyssa & Dan last fall for their engagement session at a local Christmas tree farm. I had SO MUCH FUN with the two of them and instantly could see just how perfect they are for each other. Thus, the happiness I feel for their having tied the knot is similar to the joy I might have for friends of my own. Alyssa & Dan are 100% meant to be together

The guys enjoyed an afternoon of bourbon, which was *perfect* as they were nice and relaxed by the time I got to take their photos.

Alyssa was full of emotion before the ceremony and I could tell that she just couldn’t wait to see Dan (eek!). Thus, when they finally got to exchange letters and hold hands for their first touch, I could feel the excitement, happiness and relief that they would finally soon be joined together as husband and wife.

The ceremony took place in the garden of the gorgeous estate. Guests looked on as Alyssa & Dan exchanged vows, rings, and braided the cord of three strands. I must say that my heart sang when they finally kissed for the first time as husband and wife. <3

Chateau Dumont is such a unique venue and offers so many amazing locations for photos. The videographers for the dayPeak of the Mountain Productions Peak of the Mountain Productions had a specific shot in mind during Bride & Groom photos. Using a drone, they orchestrated an amazing sequence of Alyssa & Dan on the balcony of the castle followed by their entrance into the courtyard and an intimate moment out of earshot in the ceremony space. I love photographing these two at this venue!

The evening rounded out with toasts, choreographed first dances (ohhhhh yessssss!) and dancing. The music was provided by Soul Benefactor — one of my favorite High Country wedding bands. Alyssa didn’t leave the dance floor of more than one song THE ENTIRE NIGHT. Seriously, this is a girl after my own heart! Tunes included “Days Like This” by Van Morrison, “Tracks of My Tears” by Smokey Robinson & the Miracles, and one of my personal favorites “Love & Happiness” by the Reverend Al Green. Guests sent these two off in style with a sparkler exit!

Alyssa & Dan’s wedding was beautiful, emotional and tender, and tons of fun, and I’m so grateful to have been a part of it. Congrats to these two as they step into this next chapter!!
